Home · Does liposuction tighten loose skin?

No. And here is what does.
answered by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD, Jonesboro.

No. Liposuction removes fat; it does not tighten the skin over it. Anyone telling you otherwise is overselling.

Liposuction removes fat; it does not tighten skin. Skin may retract somewhat on its own where elasticity is good, but that is your skin doing it rather than the procedure. Where laxity is part of the picture, Renuvion can be added in the same session as awake liposuction, and Morpheus8 is a series of sessions afterwards. Which applies is assessed at your consultation in Jonesboro.

Here’s exactly what happens at a first visit — and you can come and see the place before you book anything.

Why not

Two different tissues.

Fat sits under the skin. Taking it out reduces volume, and the skin above then has to cope with the new shape. Whether it does depends on how much elasticity it still has, which depends on age, genetics, sun exposure and how much stretching it has already done.

Where elasticity is good, skin often retracts enough that nobody thinks about it. Where it is not, removing volume can make laxity more obvious rather than less.

Option one

Same session, under the skin.

Renuvion applies helium-plasma energy under the skin during the same visit as your liposuction, so the tissue contracts as it heals. One visit, one recovery.

It suits laxity that is already obvious before you start, when it makes sense to deal with both layers at once. Nobody can promise you a degree of tightening, and we will not. More about Renuvion.

Option two

A series, afterwards.

Morpheus8 is radiofrequency microneedling, working from the surface downward across a series of sessions. It suits refining firmness and texture once the area has settled, and it does not require a decision on the day of your procedure.

More about Morpheus8.

Option three

Often the right answer.

Plenty of people need neither. If your skin has good tone, adding a skin treatment to a liposuction plan is spending money on a problem you do not have.

A provider who recommends an add-on before examining you is guessing. Ask what they would leave alone.

The limit

When there is skin to remove.

Where there is a genuine excess of skin rather than reduced tone, energy treatments will disappoint. A procedure that removes skin does something they cannot, and we will say so rather than sell you a series.

That is a conversation about trade-offs, not a sales conversation. Each has its own page: Renuvion and Morpheus8.

Timing

You cannot judge the skin in the first weeks.

Swelling hides everything for a while. The contour and the skin over it are generally assessed over three to six months as swelling leaves, which is why photographs at intervals are more useful than the mirror. If Renuvion was part of the plan, give it the same patience. If it was not, and the skin has not settled the way you hoped by then, that is the point to talk about Morpheus8, which does not need deciding on the day of your liposuction.

Photographs taken at the start, from the same angle, are what the later ones are compared against, so the judgment rests on more than memory.

Northeast Arkansas

A series is easier when the clinic is close.

Renuvion is done in the same visit as your liposuction, so it adds no trips. Morpheus8 is a series of sessions, and a series means coming back. The number of sessions is set at your consultation rather than published, and however many it is, our clinic in Jonesboro is about 30 minutes from Paragould and about 25 minutes from Trumann, rather than a day in Memphis or Little Rock each time. If you are further away, tell us when you book, and we plan the appointment times around the drive.

From Blytheville or Kennett the drive is about an hour and 10 minutes, which is worth mentioning when you book.

Cost & financing

Cost is quoted in writing at your consultation.

Cost depends on the treatment plan you and your physician settle on, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. We offer financing.

We see patients from Jonesboro, Paragould and across Northeast Arkansas, and some travel from the Missouri Bootheel.

Questions

Asked at the desk, answered here.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD. If yours is not here, call (870) 230-0844 and ask — nobody will try to book you for asking a question.

Will my skin bounce back on its own?

Sometimes, where elasticity is good. That is your skin retracting rather than the liposuction tightening it, and it is not something anyone can promise in advance.

Should I add Renuvion to my liposuction?

Only if laxity is already part of the picture. It is done in the same session and suits dealing with both layers at once. Your physician assesses that rather than defaulting to it.

What is the difference between Renuvion and Morpheus8?

Renuvion works under the skin in the same session as your liposuction. Morpheus8 works from the surface down across a series of sessions afterwards.

Can anything replace a skin-removal procedure?

Not where there is a genuine excess of skin. Energy treatments help tone, not quantity, and we will tell you which one you are dealing with.

Does liposuction tighten skin?

No. It removes fat. Skin may retract on its own where elasticity is good, but that is your skin doing it rather than the liposuction.

Where can I get skin tightening after liposuction in Arkansas?

At our clinic in Jonesboro: Renuvion in the same session as your liposuction, or a series of Morpheus8 afterwards. Which, if either, is decided at your consultation.

Come in.
Or book ahead.

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. We'll tell you honestly what's realistic for you.
