When the outer lips have stretched or sagged.
in Jonesboro, AR.
Labia majoraplasty reduces and reshapes the outer labia. It is done under local anesthetic, and you go home the same day.
A labia majoraplasty reduces and reshapes the labia majora, the outer lips, where skin has stretched, sagged or become uneven after weight change, childbirth or with age. It is a different procedure from a labiaplasty, which treats the inner lips. It is performed under local anesthetic in an outpatient setting at Lux Lipo in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and cost is quoted at your consultation.
Here’s exactly what happens at a first visit — and you can come and see the place before you book anything.
The outer lips, not the inner ones.
The labia majora are the outer lips. They can stretch, sag or empty out, most often after significant weight loss, after childbirth, or with age as tissue loses volume and skin loses elasticity.
A labia majoraplasty removes excess skin and reshapes the area so it sits flatter and more evenly. It is distinct from a labiaplasty, which reduces the inner lips, and the two are sometimes discussed together because a change in one can make the other more noticeable.
Bulging in clothing, or skin that hangs.
This is probably you if the outer lips bulge visibly in leggings, swimwear or fitted clothing, if the skin hangs or folds in a way it did not before, or if the area chafes and becomes sore.
It is also you if it is simply the appearance, particularly after weight loss, and it has bothered you for a long time.
This probably is not the right procedure if the issue is that the area looks deflated or hollow rather than loose. That is a volume problem, and adding volume is a different treatment. It is also not the right time if you are in the middle of significant weight change, because the skin will keep changing.
Too much skin, or not enough volume.
These look similar in the mirror and they are opposite problems.
Too much skin. The tissue hangs or folds, usually after weight loss or with age. Removing and reshaping is the answer, which is this procedure.
Not enough volume. The area looks flat, hollow or crepey rather than loose. Adding volume by fat transfer or PRP is the answer, which is labia puffing.
Some women have a bit of both, and the plan is decided by looking rather than by guessing from a page. More about labia puffing.
Numbed, awake, private.
The area is numbed with local anesthetic. There is no general anesthesia and no hospital stay.
The injection is the part most women notice. After that you should feel pressure and movement rather than pain, and you can say at any point that you want to stop. The room is private and you can bring someone with you.
What happens, in order.
-
A private consultation, where you describe what bothers you, and the area is assessed only if you agree to it.
-
A plan: how much skin is being removed, and where the incision sits so it is as hidden as possible.
-
Local anesthetic to numb the area.
-
Excess skin is removed and the area is closed with sutures.
-
Aftercare instructions and review appointments while it heals.
Swelling first, shape later.
Expect swelling, bruising, soreness and tightness while it heals. The area will look swollen before it looks better, which is normal and is not the result.
There are restrictions afterwards, on exercise, swimming and sex, because the closure needs to heal undisturbed. Your physician gives you those instructions and the timings at your appointment rather than us publishing numbers that may not fit your procedure.
Assessed once healing is done.
Scars soften and swelling settles over months, so the result is judged once healing is complete rather than early on.
Significant weight change afterwards can alter the result, in the same way it would anywhere else on the body. Individual results vary.
Cost is quoted in writing at your consultation.
Cost depends on the treatment plan you and your physician settle on, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. We offer financing.
We see patients from Jonesboro, Paragould and across Northeast Arkansas, and some travel from the Missouri Bootheel.
What to weigh up.
Common and temporary: swelling, bruising, soreness and tightness. Less common: infection, wound separation or delayed healing, a reaction to the anesthetic, a scar that is firmer, wider or more sensitive than expected, asymmetry, changes in sensation, or removing too much or too little.
Because the incision sits in a mobile area that is warm and moist, wound healing deserves more attention here than it would elsewhere. Your physician goes through all of it with you before you decide.
A physician performs the procedure.
Every labia majoraplasty at Lux Lipo is performed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD, a physician member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

What to ask any provider, including us.
Useful questions anywhere you go: is my problem excess skin, lost volume, or both? Where exactly will the scar sit? How many of these do you perform in a month? What is the aftercare and for how long? What happens if it heals unevenly, and who pays for a revision? Who handles the follow-up?
Ask what they would leave alone. The most reassuring answer is usually a conservative one.
Northeast Arkansas and the Bootheel.
We are at 3800B S Caraway Rd in Jonesboro, and women travel to us from Paragould, Trumann, Walnut Ridge, Newport, Corning, Blytheville and Batesville, and from Kennett, Sikeston and Poplar Bluff in Missouri.
Review appointments while it heals are part of this procedure, so plan those in when you book if you are driving a distance.
Shown privately, never published.
We do not publish photographs of this procedure on the site. Ask at your consultation and the physician can show you comparable cases privately. Clinical photographs of you stay in your record and only with your written permission.
We show before-and-after photographs in person.
Every photograph we publish is published because a patient signed a written release, and most people would rather we did not. At your consultation the physician will show you pairs that match your own body and the treatment being discussed — which is more use to you than a page of strangers. Individual results vary.
Nobody has to know you came in.
A lot of what we treat — dryness, leaking, discomfort, how things look — people don’t say out loud, even to their doctor. These pages exist so you can get an answer without asking a person. When you’re ready, this is what a visit looks like.
You never have to say it out loud. Book online and pick a consultation — you don’t have to explain anything to anyone at the front desk. The first person you discuss it with is the physician.
A private room, and a physician in it. A physician examines you and answers your questions — not a coordinator. Bring someone with you or come alone — whichever makes it easier.
You can stop at any point. A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. Plenty of people come in, ask everything, and decide not to do anything. That’s a fine outcome.
Your file is your file. HIPAA applies to everything here. No photo of you is ever used anywhere without your written consent, and you can withdraw it later.

What is a labia majoraplasty?
It reduces and reshapes the labia majora, the outer lips, by removing excess skin where the area has stretched or sagged. It is distinct from a labiaplasty, which reduces the inner lips.
How is it different from a labiaplasty?
A labiaplasty treats the inner lips, the labia minora. A labia majoraplasty treats the outer lips. Some women are assessed for both, because changing one can make the other more noticeable.
What if the area looks hollow rather than loose?
That is a volume problem rather than an excess skin problem, and removing tissue would make it worse. Adding volume by fat transfer or PRP is the treatment for that, which is labia puffing.
Do I need general anesthesia?
No. It is performed under local anesthetic in an outpatient setting and you go home the same day.
Where will the scar be?
The incision is planned to sit as discreetly as possible, and exactly where depends on your anatomy and how much is being removed. Ask to be shown at your consultation.
How long is the recovery?
Expect swelling, soreness and tightness, with restrictions on exercise, swimming and sex while the closure heals. Your physician gives you the timings for your procedure.
Will losing weight afterwards change the result?
Significant weight change can alter it, as it would anywhere else on the body. If you are actively losing weight, waiting is usually the better plan and we will say so.
What does it cost?
Cost depends on what is involved, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. Financing is available.
Come in.
Or book ahead.
A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. We'll tell you honestly what's realistic for you.
