Sclerotherapy for Spider Veins
in Jonesboro, AR.
Sclerotherapy treats spider veins and small varicose veins with a series of tiny injections. A solution goes into the vein, irritates its lining and makes it close off, so blood reroutes to healthier veins and the treated vein fades over the following weeks. It’s done in the office, usually in under an hour, and most people go back to their normal day afterward.
Here’s exactly what happens at a first visit — and you can come and see the place before you book anything.
Veins you'd rather treat than hide.
Probably you
- You have red, blue or purple spider veins on your legs that bother you
- You have small varicose veins
- You’ve tried hiding them and want them treated instead
Probably not you
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Wait until after.
Larger veins that ache, swell or cause symptoms may need an ultrasound and a vein specialist first. Tell us about any history of blood clots and any medicines that affect bleeding.
Very fine needles, a little sting.
Very fine needles are used. Some people feel minor stinging or cramping as the solution goes in.
You can walk around right after.

Stockings on, and keep walking.
- Wear compression stockings as directed, usually for about two weeks.
- Walk soon after.
- Skip hard exercise for about two weeks if advised.
- Keep the treated area out of the sun for two weeks, or use SPF 30+.
- Bruising, mild swelling and tenderness at the injection sites are common and fade over days to weeks.
Fading over weeks, not overnight.
Spider veins and small varicose veins usually fade over about 3 to 6 weeks. Larger veins can take 3 to 4 months. Many people need more than one session, usually spaced about six weeks apart.
Treated veins generally don’t come back, but new ones can form. Results vary.
Cost is quoted in writing at your consultation.
Cost depends on the treatment plan you and your physician settle on, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. We offer financing.
We see patients from Jonesboro, Paragould and across Northeast Arkansas, and some travel from the Missouri Bootheel.
What to weigh up.
Bruising, raised red areas, small skin sores, and darker lines or spots on the skin are possible. They usually fade.
Rarely, a blood clot forms in a treated vein, or there’s an allergic reaction. Very rarely, a clot forms in a deeper vein, which needs urgent care. Call (870) 230-0844 or seek emergency care if you have new leg swelling, chest pain or trouble breathing.
A physician sets your plan.
Your plan is set at a consultation with Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD, a physician member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, or Dr. Rohit Chug, MD.
The consultation can be in person or by video. Afterward we email you a written quote with a financing link.
