Awake liposuction.
The fat leaves. You stay.

Liposuction under local anesthetic, with you awake the whole time. No general anesthesia, no hospital, home the same day.

Awake liposuction is liposuction done under local anesthetic while you stay awake, at Lux Lipo in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It suits adults with stubborn areas that diet and exercise have not shifted. It is a same-day visit with no general anesthesia and no hospital, and cost is quoted at your consultation, with financing available.

Here’s exactly what happens at a first visit — and you can come and see the place before you book anything.

01 — What it is

Fat that has not moved, removed.

Diluted local anesthetic is placed into the area. The fat cells swell and loosen, and a small cannula removes them through tiny incisions. Common areas are the abdomen, the flanks, the thighs, the arms and under the chin.

You are awake, and you can talk to us throughout.

02 — Is this you?

Probably, if the area does not change no matter what you do.

Probably you

This is probably you if you are 18 or over, in good health, close to a weight you are comfortable at, and one or two areas will not budge with diet and exercise. The lower belly, the flanks, the inner thighs and the upper arms are the usual reasons people come in. It helps if your skin still has decent elasticity, and if you have been told you would need general anesthesia and would rather not.

Probably not you

It probably is not you if you are hoping to lose a significant amount of weight, if you have a condition that impairs healing, or if you want a result no one can honestly promise. We would tell you that at a consultation rather than after.

03 — What it feels like

Most people say pressure, not pain.

The area is fully numbed before anything else happens. Most people describe pressure rather than pain. If you are uncomfortable at any point, we stop and adjust.

You walk out the same day with a compression garment and written instructions.

Reviews

What patients say

“Totally pleased with my results. I had lipo 360 with Renuvion and fat transfer. The whole staff are accommodating and make you feel so at ease. I would recommend with a 10/10.”

“From day one, I felt heard, supported, and genuinely cared for. The doctors were honest, thorough, and never made me feel rushed or pressured. Every question I had was answered clearly, which helped ease my nerves. The procedure itself went smoothly, and the aftercare instructions were very detailed. Recovery was exactly as explained.”

“Best thing I have ever done for myself. I love my results. The doctors are great, super down to earth. Perfect experience across the board.”

04 — How it works

Four steps, one visit.

  1. Marking. The physician marks the areas with you standing, so the plan matches how you actually look.
  2. Numbing. Diluted local anesthetic goes into the area. This is the part most people remember as odd rather than painful.
  3. Removal. A thin cannula removes the loosened fat through incisions a few millimetres wide.
  4. Home. A compression garment goes on and you leave the same day, driven by someone else.
05 — Recovery

The first two days, then the first few weeks.

Fluid drainage from the incision sites is expected for the first 24 to 48 hours, so plan a quiet couple of days. Swelling, bruising, mild soreness and temporary numbness are all normal in the first weeks, and you wear a compression garment as instructed.

Sensation usually starts returning within a few weeks and keeps improving over months. Final results are assessed over three to six months as the swelling settles. Liposuction is contouring, not weight loss. Individual results vary.

  1. Day 0Awake under local anesthetic, no general anesthesia, and home the same day.
  2. Day 1–2Some fluid drainage from the small incision sites is normal. Compression garment on as instructed.
  3. Week 1Swelling, bruising and mild soreness. Most people are back to desk work.
  4. Weeks 2–6Temporary numbness fading as sensation starts to return.
  5. Months 1–3Shape settling as the swelling leaves. A second round, if ever discussed, waits until here.
  6. Months 6–8The result you keep. Individual results vary.
06 — Results

Fat cells that are removed do not come back.

The cells taken out are gone. The cells that remain can still grow with weight gain, so results last as long as your weight stays reasonably steady. Most people see the shape settle in fully by month six. Individual results vary.

07 — Add skin tightening

If loose skin is part of the picture, Renuvion can be done in the same visit.

Liposuction removes fat; it does not tighten skin. If your skin has lost some elasticity, Renuvion can be added in the same session: a thin wand passes under the skin with helium plasma energy to help the tissue contract as it heals. It is also offered on its own. Whether it is worth adding is a judgment call we make with you at your consultation, based on your skin, not a package.

08 — Choosing the add-on

One happens in the same session. One comes after.

Two treatments address the skin over an area we have treated, and they are not interchangeable.

Renuvion, in the same session. Helium-plasma energy is applied under the skin during the same visit as your liposuction, so the tissue contracts as it heals. It is the right call when laxity is already part of the picture and you would rather deal with it once, under the same anesthetic, with one recovery.

Morpheus8, as a follow-on. Radiofrequency microneedling works from the surface down to firm and smooth treated areas, and it is sold as a series of sessions rather than a single visit. It is the right call when the skin needs refining after everything has settled, or when you would rather see how the area looks before committing to anything else.

Some people have neither, because their skin does not need it. Your physician makes that judgment with you at the consultation, looking at your skin rather than selling a package. More about Renuvion · More about Morpheus8.

Cost & financing

Cost is quoted in writing at your consultation.

Cost depends on the treatment plan you and your physician settle on, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. We offer financing.

We see patients from Jonesboro, Paragould and across Northeast Arkansas, and some travel from the Missouri Bootheel.

09 — Risks, plainly

Common, uncommon, and what we do about them.

Common and temporary: swelling, bruising, soreness, numbness and some unevenness while things settle. Uncommon: infection, fluid collection, contour irregularity that needs a touch-up, or a reaction to the anesthetic. We go through all of this with you before you decide, and you have a direct line to the clinic afterwards.

10 — Who performs it

A physician who does this work regularly.

Every awake liposuction at Lux Lipo is performed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD, a physician member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

11 — Before you choose anyone

What to ask any provider, including us.

Liposuction is offered in a lot of places, at a lot of quality levels. Useful questions anywhere you go: how many of these do you perform in a month? Can I see before and after photographs of people built like me, at more than one time point? Which areas would you treat, and which would you leave alone? What happens if the result is uneven, and who pays for a touch-up? Who do I call at 9pm on the second night?

Ask who is actually holding the cannula, and ask it plainly. Ask whether the skin over the area needs addressing as well, because a provider who only ever recommends the fat removal has not looked properly.

12 — Getting here

Worth the drive, and closer than the alternatives.

We are at 3800B S Caraway Rd in Jonesboro. People travel to us from across Northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel, including Paragould, Trumann, Walnut Ridge, Newport, Corning, Blytheville and Batesville, and from Kennett, Sikeston and Poplar Bluff in Missouri, rather than driving to Memphis, Little Rock or Nashville for a procedure that puts them to sleep.

Because the shape is judged over months rather than on the day, review appointments are part of this rather than an extra. If you are coming a distance, say so when you book and we will group them sensibly.

Does awake liposuction hurt?

The area is numbed before anything happens, and most people describe pressure rather than pain. You are awake, so you can tell us the moment anything feels wrong and we adjust.

How is it different from regular liposuction?

Traditional liposuction is usually done under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgery center. Awake liposuction uses diluted local anesthetic in a clinic, so you skip the risks and recovery of general anesthesia and go home the same day.

How many areas can be treated in one visit?

There is a safe limit to how much can be done under local anesthetic in one session, so the answer depends on the size of the areas and your plan. Larger plans are split across visits, usually three to six months apart so the first area has fully healed.

When can I go back to work?

It depends on the areas treated and what your job asks of your body. Drainage for the first 24 to 48 hours is the main reason to plan a quiet first two days, and desk-based work usually resumes well before physical work. You get a written timeline for your plan at your consultation.

Will the fat come back?

The fat cells that are removed do not come back. The remaining cells can still enlarge with weight gain, so keeping your weight steady is what protects the result. Individual results vary.

Am I a candidate if I want to lose weight?

Liposuction is contouring, not weight loss. If your main goal is losing weight, ask us about medical weight loss first, then revisit contouring once you are near a weight you are comfortable at.

Will I be numb afterwards?

Some temporary numbness is normal and comes from minor nerve irritation during the procedure. Sensation usually starts returning within a few weeks and keeps improving over months. Permanent numbness is very rare.

Should I have Renuvion or Morpheus8 with my liposuction?

Renuvion is done in the same session and suits skin that is already lax. Morpheus8 is a series of sessions afterwards and suits skin that needs refining once everything has settled. Many people need neither, and your physician will say so.

How soon could I have a second round?

Usually not before three to six months, so the area is fully healed and you are judging a final result rather than a swollen one.

How do you document the result over time?

With photographs at intervals, from about a week out through several months, because the shape keeps changing across that period. Nothing is published without your written permission.

Come in.
Or book ahead.

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. We'll tell you honestly what's realistic for you.
