Medical weight loss at Lux Lipo is physician-supervised weight management, which may include GLP-1 treatments where they are clinically appropriate. It is offered in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and cost is quoted at your consultation.

Here’s exactly what happens at a first visit — and you can come and see the place before you book anything.

01 — What it is

Medicine, plus the parts medicine does not do.

Medical weight loss means weight management supervised by a physician: your history reviewed, bloodwork where it is useful, a plan set, and progress checked over time.

GLP-1 treatments are one part of what that can include. They are a class of medication that acts on appetite and how full you feel, and they are prescribed on the basis of an assessment rather than on request.

They are not a substitute for the rest of it. Nutrition, movement and sleep still decide a great deal, and any clinic telling you otherwise is selling you something.

02 — Is this you?

When effort alone has not been enough.

Probably you

This is probably you if weight has become a health issue rather than a cosmetic one, if you have made real efforts that have not held, or if something about the way your body handles weight has changed and you want it looked at properly.

Probably not you

This probably is not you if what you actually want is contouring of one stubborn area. Liposuction is a contouring treatment, not weight loss, and the two get confused often enough that it is worth saying plainly. More about awake liposuction.

It is also not appropriate for everyone. Your history decides that, and we would rather tell you than write a prescription.

03 — The consultation

Assessment before prescription.

Your weight history, what you have already tried, your medical history and any medication you take. Bloodwork where your physician judges it useful.

Then a conversation about the options, including what each involves, what it does not do, and what happens when you stop.

You are not weighed and handed a prescription. If a GLP-1 treatment is not appropriate for you, we say so.

04 — Results

Gradual, and dependent on what happens after.

Change is gradual and is reviewed rather than assumed. Doses and plans are adjusted based on how you respond and how you tolerate it.

The uncomfortable part, said plainly: weight often returns when treatment stops, unless what supported the change is still in place. That is why this is set up as ongoing care rather than a course you finish. Individual results vary, and we do not promise a number of pounds or a timeline.

Cost & financing

Cost is quoted in writing at your consultation.

Cost depends on the treatment plan you and your physician settle on, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. We offer financing.

We see patients from Jonesboro, Paragould and across Northeast Arkansas, and some travel from the Missouri Bootheel.

05 — Risks, plainly

Real medication, real side effects.

GLP-1 treatments commonly cause nausea, and can cause vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea and reflux, particularly when starting or when a dose increases. Most of that settles, and dose changes are made gradually for exactly that reason.

Less common but more serious problems exist, which is why this is supervised rather than mail-ordered, and why your history and family history are reviewed before anything is prescribed.

Tell your physician about any history of pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, thyroid conditions or eating disorders. This page is general information, not advice about your own care.

06 — Who provides it

A physician assesses, prescribes and reviews.

Every medical weight loss plan at Lux Lipo is performed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD, a physician member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

Northeast Arkansas and the Bootheel.

08 — Questions

Asked at the desk, answered here.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD. If yours is not here, call (870) 230-0844 and ask — nobody will try to book you for asking a question.

What are GLP-1 treatments?

A class of medication that acts on appetite and how full you feel. They are prescribed after an assessment rather than on request, because they are not appropriate for everyone.

Which medication will I be given?

That is decided at your consultation based on your history and what is appropriate for you. We do not name specific products on the website.

What are the side effects?

Nausea is common, along with vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea and reflux, particularly when starting or increasing a dose. Doses are increased gradually for that reason. More serious problems are less common, which is why it is supervised.

Will the weight come back if I stop?

It often does, unless what supported the change is still in place. That is why this is set up as ongoing care with review rather than a course you finish.

Is this the same as liposuction?

No, and they are commonly confused. Liposuction is contouring of a specific area, not weight loss. If your goal is weight, this is the conversation.

Do I need bloodwork?

Often, where your physician judges it useful for the decision and for monitoring. It is explained rather than ordered by default.

How much weight will I lose?

We do not promise a number of pounds or a timeline. Anyone who does is guessing about your body.

What does it cost?

Cost depends on the plan you and your physician settle on, so we quote it at your consultation rather than guessing here. Financing is available.

Come in.
Or book ahead.

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. We'll tell you honestly what's realistic for you.
