Home · Which body contouring treatment is right for you?

Which one do you actually need?
answered by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD, Jonesboro.

The right body contouring treatment depends on which layer is the problem: fat, skin or muscle.

Body contouring treatments address three different layers: fat, skin and muscle. Awake liposuction removes fat, Renuvion and Morpheus8 address skin tone, and Tone by InMode works the muscle. Fat transfer moves volume to the breast rather than removing it. Choosing well means identifying which layer is causing the shape you do not like, which is what a consultation is for. The body contouring page lists every treatment we offer.

Here’s exactly what happens at a first visit — and you can come and see the place before you book anything.

Layer one

If there is a pocket that will not shift.

Localized fat that has resisted diet and exercise is the classic liposuction case, and it is the one treatment that reliably makes an area smaller.

If you want that volume in the breast rather than gone, fat transfer moves it there. Awake liposuction · Fat transfer to the breast.

Layer two

If the area is not heavy but looks slack.

Skin that has lost tone is not treated by removing what is under it. Renuvion applies energy under the skin in the same session as liposuction; Morpheus8 is a series of sessions working from the surface down.

Renuvion · Morpheus8.

Layer three

If you are lean and want definition.

If there is little fat to remove and the skin is fine, what you are looking at is muscle tone. Tone by InMode contracts the muscle in the abdomen, glutes, arms or thighs across a course of sessions.

It is not weight loss and it will not change an outline that is being set by a fat layer. More about Tone.

Combinations

Most plans are more than one thing.

A mommy makeover is a combination by definition, built at consultation rather than sold as a package. Liposuction with skin tightening in the same session is common.

What can safely be combined in one visit is a clinical judgment, not a shopping decision. Mommy makeover.

Being honest

Often, fewer things than you were offered.

If your skin has good tone, adding a skin treatment to a liposuction plan is spending money on a problem you do not have. If there is a real fat layer, muscle toning will not change the outline.

Ask any provider what they would leave alone. It is the most useful question on the list. Every option is compared on the body contouring page.

Fat transfer

Where fat can be moved to.

Fat transfer uses fat removed by liposuction to add volume to the breast, so one procedure takes from an area and gives to another. At Lux Lipo the breast is the only place it is used. It uses your own tissue rather than an implant. More about fat transfer to the breast.

Because fat has to be removed before it can be moved, fat transfer always starts with liposuction, and the area it is taken from is contoured too.

How much fat can be moved depends on how much there is to take, which is one more reason the plan is made in person.

Close to home

Every option, in one clinic.

Every treatment on this page is done at our clinic in Jonesboro, Arkansas, so choosing between them does not mean choosing between cities. That matters when a plan combines more than one thing, or when one of them is a course of sessions. From Paragould the drive is about 30 minutes, from Trumann about 25 minutes, and from Kennett about an hour and 10 minutes.

A procedure day with liposuction needs a driver both ways. Tone and Morpheus8 are courses of sessions, and the clinic sets appointment times around your drive when you tell us at booking.

Ask at your consultation which parts of your plan can share a visit, so the number of trips is part of the plan from the start.

Questions

Asked at the desk, answered here.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD. If yours is not here, call (870) 230-0844 and ask — nobody will try to book you for asking a question.

How do I know if my problem is fat or skin?

Pinch the area. Thick and soft is fat; thin and folding like fabric is skin. Most people have some of both, and a consultation sorts out the proportions.

Is muscle toning a substitute for liposuction?

No. If a fat layer is setting the outline, toning the muscle underneath will not change it much.

Can I have more than one treatment?

Often, and many plans are a combination. What is safe to do in one session is your physician’s judgment.

Which gives the biggest change?

Usually removing fat, because it changes the outline. But the biggest change is not the point if it is the wrong layer.

Which body contouring treatment is right for me?

The one that treats the layer causing the shape you do not like: liposuction for fat, Renuvion with liposuction or Morpheus8 for skin, Tone for muscle. A consultation works out which.

What body contouring options are there in Jonesboro?

At our clinic in Jonesboro, Arkansas: awake liposuction, fat transfer to the breast, Renuvion, Morpheus8, Tone by InMode, MyEllevate for the neck, and combinations such as a mommy makeover.

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. We'll tell you honestly what's realistic for you.
