Drainage is expected, not a complication.
The tumescent technique puts a large volume of diluted anesthetic solution into the area, and some of it leaves through the small incision sites afterwards. That drainage is expected for roughly the first 24 to 48 hours, and it is the part that surprises people most because nobody warns them how much fluid is involved.
Your compression garment goes on as instructed and stays on as instructed. It is not optional comfort wear; it is doing a job.
Swelling, bruising, and back to a desk.
Expect swelling, bruising and mild soreness. Most people are back to desk work within a few days. Anything that involves lifting, straining or a lot of movement waits for the timing your physician gives you.
It will not look like the result yet. It looks swollen, and that is not the same thing.
The numbness comes back, slowly.
Temporary numbness in the treated area comes from minor nerve irritation during the procedure. Sensation normally starts returning within a few weeks and keeps improving over the following months. Permanent numbness is very rare.
Some people find the returning sensation odd rather than painful, in the way a foot feels waking up. That settles too.

Wear the garment as instructed. Walk gently and often rather than sitting still for a day and then doing too much. Drink water. Sleep where it is comfortable rather than where you normally sleep.
Resist measuring yourself daily. Swelling moves around, so the tape measure will tell you a different story every morning and none of them are the result. Photographs at intervals are more honest than a tape measure, which is why we take them.

Plan the trips, not just the day.
Recovery is easier to plan when you know how often you are on the road. Procedure day is one round trip, and you need a driver for it, because the treated area is numb and sore when you leave. After that come follow-up visits for progress checks, which your physician schedules with the rest of your aftercare.
