Before your fat transfer procedure, you’ll have a detailed consultation with your provider to discuss your desired results and review your health history. This is the perfect time to mention any medications, vitamins, supplements, or herbal remedies you’re currently taking so your provider can help ensure a safe and smooth experience.
In some cases, you may be advised to temporarily stop certain medications — such as blood thinners, aspirin, or anti-inflammatory drugs — about a week before the procedure to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling. Your provider may also recommend basic lab work or other routine tests to confirm you’re ready for treatment.
Fat transfer is usually performed in an outpatient setting using local anesthesia with sedation or, in some cases, general anesthesia. This means you’ll be able to return home the same day. For your safety and comfort, arrange for a trusted friend or family member to drive you home and stay with you for the first evening as you begin your recovery.

Mild & Short-Term Effects of Fat Transfer Treatment

Fat transfer procedures — also called fat grafting or fat injections — are generally safe when performed by an experienced provider. Still, like any medical procedure, they carry potential risks and side effects that should be considered:
  • Swelling and Bruising – Temporary swelling, bruising, or redness in both the donor area (where fat is removed) and the recipient area (where fat is injected) is common and usually resolves within a few weeks.
  • Tenderness or Discomfort – Mild soreness, tightness, or sensitivity at the treatment sites may occur and typically improves as the healing process progresses.
  • Asymmetry or Irregular Contours – In some cases, uneven fat distribution, lumps, or contour irregularities may appear, which can sometimes require touch-up procedures.
  • Changes in Sensation – Temporary numbness, tingling, or altered sensation in treated areas may occur and often improves with time.
  • Fat Absorption – A portion of the transferred fat may be reabsorbed by the body over time, which can reduce the final volume and may require additional sessions.
  • Infection – Although rare, infection can develop at either the donor or recipient site and may require medical treatment.
  • Allergic Reaction – An allergic reaction to anesthetic or other materials used during the procedure is rare but possible.

This is a review for Melt office of Dr. Nima and his staff. I contacted Dr. Nima office to schedule Lipo 360, neck and arms lipo with Morpheus 8. The office staff and Dr. Nima are very responsive and professional. From my first appointment, I have received an amazing care and postoperative care. I went to Dr. Nima for Lipo 360 and all I can say is wow! My major concern was my upper back and bra roll and boy did Dr. Nima deliver the results. I no longer have my bra rolls and he was able to give me the hourglass figure of my dreams. I am seven weeks postop and couldn't be happier. I had the pleasure of having some procedures performed by Dr Nima yesterday. And let me tell you, I am so blown away already with my results. First, Dr Nima is the kind of physician that we all hope to have. He’s very attentive and really listens to your wants and needs. His bedside manner is great as well. I had Lipo360 and Renuvion performed by Dr. Nima about 6 weeks ago. I was really nervous going into the procedure as I knew I would be awake, but Dr. Nima and his team made me feel so comfortable and eased all my worries.
